Looking back...

Well we've almost reached the end of our time together here at Queenswood. By Saturday lunch-time the school will be empty, the books and files will be packed up in boxes and everybody will be making their way home.

Today I want you to look back at your first blog post and think about the time that you've spent here this summer. What were your first impressions of the summer school and how do they differ from your thoughts about it now? What memories will you take home with you?

Think about your lessons; your excursions and activities; the new friends you've made and the adventures you've had. Will you keep in touch with anybody once you've left? Will you continue writing posts for your blog?

This will probably be your last post from Queenswood so I want you to to make an extra special effort today. It's your opportunity to show what an expert blog writer you've become!

Life in the 16th century...

Hello everybody,

Today I want to take you back in time...How different would your life be if you lived in Tudor England (around the time of Shakespeare)?

I want you to write about your everyday life in the 16th century....What would your daily routine be like? Think about your home, food, education, entertainment, and personal hygene.

Are there any advantages to living in the 16th century or only disadvantages?

You can do some research yourself and find out about everyday life in Tudor England....check out the link below which will provide you with basic overview and give you some ideas:

Another Beautiful Monday...

Hello again everybody.

This is the beginning of your last week here at Queenswood and so your last week of E-Comm.

I spent the weekend looking at all of your blogs and there are still quite a few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors on most of your new posts.

Today I want you go over your previous posts and check them for mistakes (don't forget to ask me or your teacher if you're not sure). You can also think about any ways that you may be able to improve them.

I also noticed that some of the posted images remain unexplained, so don't forget to give your photos titles or to add captions to them which will explain their relevance to the rest of your posts. You need to think about how your blog would look to an internaught who came across your page.....would he/she want to read more or just move onto something else.

Have a look at the links to the left of this posting 'this year's blogs' for some fresh new ideas...

Enjoy!

The Arts, Past & Present...

Hello everybody.

Today in E-comm I want you to write about your visit to London.

This week in London you saw two very different aspects of our culture. In the Tate Modern, you saw one of the most important collections of modern art in the U.K. and one of the most impressive galleries (the building itself is a converted electicity generating plant).

At the Globe you saw a reconstruction of Shakespeare's famous 16th century theatre which provides us with an insight into life in the 16th century and the stage for which some of Shakespeare's most famous works were written.

I want you to write about your excursion and think about the role that the arts played in Shakespeare's time and the role that they play today.

Does art play an important role in your life?

Think about music, design, film, fashion or any other art-form and think about how they influence your ideas and the way that you live.

Happy blogging!

Into The Future...

Hello everybody,

Today in E-comm I want you to travel through time and write about the future.

Here are some ideas of things you might want to write about:

You could try to imagine your life ten years from today...where would you like to be (and with who)? What would your daily routine be like? You can think about your family, your work/education, your environment and anything else that you would like to be a part of your future life.

You might want to write an imaginary journal for the year 2019 and talk about the things mentioned above.

If you prefer you could write about the city of tommorrow. Think about changes in technology, space travel, the environment, architecture...the list is endless. What would life be like for a citizen of the future?

Use your imagination and be creative...the future is in your hands!
